Starting Wednesday, October 1, it will become illegal in Vermont for drivers to use cell phones or other electronic devices while driving unless those devices can be used hands free. Vermont will become the 15th state to prohibit all drivers from using hand held cellphones while driving. After Wednesday, the fine for a first offense will be $100-$200 and after the first offense the ticket can be from $200-$500.

If you need to use an electronic device, the best option is to mount your device and connect your phone to the Bluetooth in your vehicle so that your hands are on the wheel at all times.
