Toyota’s hybrid sales are growing at a fast pace
Their first hybrid launched in 1997, taking ten years to hit the 1 millionth sale, but just two years later we hit the 2 million marker. Slightly less than a year after that, we’ve hit 5 million. With this Toyota plans to double its hybrid lineup by the end of 2015 by adding 18 models to the current 19. Originally, Toyota felt they were bold saying that 30 percent of vehicles would be hybrid by 2020, but now they believe that they’re well on the way to that goal; 40 percent of their cars sold in Japan this year were hybrids, and 14 percent globally were as well.
