As some of you may already know, there are rumors of a turbocharged Subaru BRZ coming in the future; Toyota on the other hand, seems to be going a different direction. Instead of turbocharged, Toyota is planning a gasoline-electric hybrid that will increase the FR-S’ output. Toyota is already testing the hybrid system in Japan in order to create a more powerful sports coupe.

Although the cars share a design, it seems the automakers are planning to go in different directions. Subaru towards the straight turbocharged version, and Toyota, naturally, to the more fuel efficient yet still power-increasing gasoline-electric system.

We’ll let you know when we know more! In the meantime, check out our 2013 Scion FR-S inventory here.
